B-lymphocyte

Definition

A type of white blood cell involved in the specific immune response; B-lymphocytes produce antibodies and form memory lymphocytes.

Eventually, a B-lymphocyte recognises an antigen on it. The antigen triggers that lymphocyte to divide, producing a clone of many lymphocytes able to make the same specific antibody.
