Revise: Specific Immune SystemAntibodies can cause pathogens to clump together, known as agglutination, and mark them for destruction by phagocytes. Because producing and cloning enough appropriate lymphocytes takes time during the first exposure, the pathogen may multiply and cause symptoms before it is controlled. This first encounter produces the primary immune response.
