Revise: Thyroxine and AdrenalineThyroxine helps regulate the body's longer-term metabolic activity, whereas adrenaline prepares the body for rapid action during fear or stress.
Name the gland as well as the hormone: adrenal glands produce adrenaline; the thyroid gland produces thyroxine.
Do not confuse adrenaline’s rapid response to fear or stress with thyroxine’s control of basal metabolic rate.
When explaining an adrenaline response, link each change to its advantage: for example, a faster heart rate delivers glucose and oxygen to muscles more rapidly for respiration.
