Component 02 Question 1: finding and explaining information

Component 02 Question 1 (4 marks, AO1) on a few lines near the start of Text 1: usually three words or phrases that show something the question names (3 marks), then a brief explanation of one point (1 mark).
Copying words exactly from the right lines, giving one answer in each space, and moving on quickly to the questions worth more.
The worked example uses two linked stories of fear in a dark house at night, both printed in the lesson: Text 1, the ending of W. W. Jacobs's story 'The Monkey's Paw' (1902), and Text 2, from Algernon Blackwood's story 'The Empty House' (1906).
Answers that would and would not earn the marks, and why.
