Revise: Internal Factors Affecting AchievementA teacher expectation is a belief about how a pupil will behave or achieve. Labels can produce expectations: a pupil labelled ‘bright’ may be expected to succeed, while a ‘troublemaker’ may be expected to disrupt lessons. Expectations can then influence the encouragement, attention and opportunities pupils receive.
