Component 2
Revise: Choosing a Research AreaA research area is the topic or aspect of social life a sociologist wants to investigate. Examples include friendship groups at school, participation in sport or poverty among children. Choosing an area is an early part of research design: it establishes what the study will be about, before the researcher develops precise aims or hypotheses.
