Revise: Choosing a Research AreaFunding can come from universities, charities, private companies and government departments. In the UK, the Economic and Social Research Council supports a wide range of social research.
Explain how a factor affects topic choice: limited funding might make a nationwide study unaffordable, so the researcher chooses a local research area.
Distinguish influences on topic choice from bias in findings. Personal interests or funding priorities can shape what is studied without making the findings automatically unfair.
