Representativeness

When choosing a sampling method, explain why it suits the target population and research aim, then consider access, resources and representativeness. Random selection does not guarantee a representative sample.

Develop evaluation points by explaining their effect on the investigation. For example, a large sample may improve representativeness, but it does not guarantee validity.

Use precise terms such as validity, representativeness and bias rather than simply calling a source ‘good’ or ‘inaccurate’.
