Conventionally, a mother and father who are married or cohabiting and their child or children, forming a two-generation family unit.
Explain the link between reduced contact with wider relatives and reduced access to support; do not simply state that nuclear families are isolated.
Evaluate criticisms using qualified claims: family life can create isolation, but not every nuclear family is isolated or unhappy.
Check what a statistic measures. Married or civil-partnered couple families are not necessarily traditional nuclear families.
