Media representation

Media representation is how people and groups are portrayed in news, entertainment and other media. Selection matters: repeatedly showing one type of behaviour can make it seem typical of a whole group. Coverage that disproportionately associates young people or ethnic minorities with crime can encourage negative stereotypes and influence how they are treated.
