Paper 1, Paper 2

In Market forces and parental choice (1994), Stephen Ball, Richard Bowe and Sharon Gewirtz investigated how parental choice and published school league tables affected education. They studied fifteen schools in neighbouring local education authorities (LEAs), whose populations differed in social class and ethnicity. This allowed them to examine how competition operated in different social settings.
