The preserver and protector deity in the Tri-murti, whose avataras include Krishna and Rama.
Used by AQA
Paper 1
Revise: Presentations of the DivineSome focus on Vishnu and his avataras, others on Shiva or the goddess, while others emphasise a formless understanding of Brahman. Hinduism therefore cannot be reduced to one uniform belief about many separate gods.
Use Krishna and Rama as clear examples of avataras of Vishnu. An avatara is a divine incarnation, not simply a sacred image.
