Revise: Revelation as Proof of GodThe Vedas are ancient Hindu scriptures containing hymns, ritual teachings and teachings about ultimate reality. They are recognised as shruti, meaning ‘that which is heard’: revealed truth rather than merely human invention. The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 2.4.10 describes the four Vedas—Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva—as being ‘breathed forth’ from the great Being.
