Article XXV (25) of the Anglican Thirty-Nine Articles calls sacraments ‘effectual signs of grace’ which strengthen faith. It identifies baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the two Sacraments of the Gospel. It distinguishes the other five rites because they do not have the same character and a visible sign ordained by God in the same way.
