The Muslim declaration of faith: there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
Used by AQA and Eduqas
Paper 1
The Muslim declaration of faith, affirming that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's messenger.
Revise: TawhidThe Shahadah, the Muslim declaration of faith, expresses this by affirming that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's messenger. Its two parts distinguish God from the messenger who communicates his teaching.
For a comparison, identify shared duties as well as differences. Shi'a Muslims also accept the Shahadah, although it is not listed among the Ten Obligatory Acts.
Explain both parts of the Shahadah: belief in Allah alone and acceptance of Muhammad as Allah’s messenger.
When explaining importance, connect a practice to its meaning: repeating the Shahadah in prayer renews commitment to Allah.
