Niyyah

Niyyah, the intention behind an action, also matters. Giving to someone in need to help them is different from giving only to impress others. Faith, deeds and intentions are therefore important, alongside Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.

Before Salah, Muslims make niyyah, the intention to pray for Allah. They also prepare through wudu, ritual washing which includes the hands, face and feet. This preparation marks a change from ordinary activities to worship and helps the worshipper concentrate.
