Iddah

A divorced woman observes an iddah, a waiting period before marrying again. This helps establish whether she is pregnant and, following a revocable divorce, provides time for possible reconciliation. Its length depends on circumstances: for a menstruating woman it is normally three menstrual cycles, while for a pregnant woman it lasts until she gives birth.
