Revise: Prejudice and Discrimination in JudaismHIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, is a Jewish-founded organisation whose roots lie in immigrant aid work in New York City in 1881. At that time, many Jews were fleeing pogroms in the Russian Empire: organised violent attacks on Jewish communities. Helping these immigrants was a practical response to antisemitism, rather than simply a statement that prejudice was wrong.
