The belief that a husband has a particular responsibility to lead his family. Christians who support this often interpret leadership as loving service rather than domination.
For Christians who support headship, this gives the husband a particular leadership responsibility. However, the comparison with Christ makes that leadership demanding: it should involve sacrifice, care and putting the wife's good before selfish interests. It is not simply permission to issue orders.
