Revise: Nature of FamiliesA family is a group of people related by blood, marriage or adoption. Family life involves relationships between people, but also responsibilities towards one another. To understand the nature of families, distinguish their structure — who belongs to them — from their roles — what their members are expected to do.

A group of people connected through relationships such as parenthood, marriage or kinship, who have responsibilities towards one another.
Revise: Christian Relationships, Families and Gender RolesWithin a family, these include caring for children, supporting elderly relatives, earning an income and maintaining a home. Christian disagreements often concern how these duties should be shared and whether marriage is necessary for a couple’s relationship.
Distinguish family structure from family responsibilities: ‘nuclear’ describes who belongs to the family, not how well its members care for one another.
Avoid claiming that all Christians or all Muslims organise their families in the same way. Qualify traditional roles and recognise differences in practice.
Link a teaching to its practical effect. For example, explain how Galatians 3:28 can support shared family responsibilities.
