An assembly of Catholic Church leaders whose fourth session, on 8 April 1546, formally confirmed the books accepted within the Catholic biblical canon.

The Council of Trent, held between 1545 and 1563, addressed challenges raised by the Protestant Reformation. At its fourth session on 8 April 1546, it formally listed the books the Catholic Church received as Scripture. It affirmed the books of both Testaments as sacred and canonical, including the books and passages not recognised within the Protestant canon.
