Cosmology

Hindu cosmology concerns the origin and nature of the universe, but also the place of human beings within it. It connects questions about matter and time with questions about spiritual understanding. Hindu traditions offer different accounts and interpretations rather than one explanation accepted identically by everyone.

Cosmology concerns the universe’s origins and development. Buddhism does not recognise a creator God and has no creation story explaining how such a God made everything at a first beginning. This does not mean that Buddhism has nothing to say about the universe: it describes worlds undergoing repeated change rather than a single act of divine creation.
