Revise: CalligraphyCalligraphy is the art of beautiful, carefully designed writing. In Islamic art, words can be shaped into an elegant design while still communicating a message. This makes calligraphy more than an attractive pattern: what the writing says can be as important as how it looks.
Explain how the words express a belief: linking Qur’anic calligraphy to the Word of Allah is stronger than simply calling it decoration.
Distinguish respecting sacred writing from worshipping it. Calligraphy should direct attention towards Allah, not become an object of worship.
When evaluating calligraphy, compare its religious meaning with its artistic purpose and explain why the content and setting matter.
