Paper 1
Revise: Normal DistributionsA distribution shows the overall pattern: which scores are common, which are rare and how values are spread around the centre.
When describing a normal distribution, state that it is symmetrical and bell-shaped, with most scores near the centre and fewer towards either extreme.
State that the mean, median and mode are equal in a perfect normal distribution, not merely that they are all averages.
Equal mean, median and mode are consistent with a normal distribution, but do not by themselves prove that a dataset has a bell-shaped distribution.
