Velocity–time graph

A velocity–time graph records an object's velocity at different times. Time, in seconds (s), goes on the horizontal axis. Velocity, in metres per second (m/s), goes on the vertical axis.

A velocity–time graph records an object's velocity at each moment. Time is plotted on the horizontal axis in seconds (s), and velocity is plotted on the vertical axis in metres per second (m/s). Each point therefore answers the question: “What was the object's velocity at this time?”

A velocity–time graph gives the object's velocity at each moment.

The same-looking line can have a different meaning on a distance–time graph and a velocity–time graph.
