Revise: Elastic and plastic deformationElastic does not mean that the object cannot deform. It means that the deformation is reversed after unloading.
Do not decide that a deformation is elastic simply because the object stretches. It is elastic only if the object returns to its original dimensions after unloading.
In a loading-and-unloading investigation, compare the final length at zero load with the original length. Different readings during unloading do not by themselves prove that the object is permanently deformed.
