Revise: Tumour TreatmentA tumour develops when abnormal cells divide uncontrollably. Radiotherapy exposes the tumour to ionising radiation, which can damage the DNA controlling cell behaviour. Sufficient damage can kill cancer cells or prevent them from continuing to divide, so the tumour may shrink or stop growing.
