Revise: Observing the UniverseAstronomical telescopes, developed in the early seventeenth century, collected more light than the eye. Astronomers could then see features of the Moon and planets and use their observations to test ideas about the Solar System. Over time, larger instruments and improved detectors made it possible to study much fainter objects.
