Revise: Observing the UniverseThe Hubble Space Telescope, launched in 1990, observes visible light as well as some ultraviolet and near-infrared radiation. The Chandra observatory detects X-rays; the James Webb Space Telescope observes infrared radiation. These are examples of instruments chosen for different observations, rather than replacements for every telescope on Earth.
