Stationary wave

Adjust the signal-generator frequency until a clear pattern of vibrating loops appears. This is a stationary wave: waves travelling along the string and their reflections combine to produce fixed positions of no vibration, called nodes, with vibrating loops between them. The string within each loop still moves, even though the positions of the loops remain fixed.
