Revise: Isotope Production for PETA PET scan uses a radiotracer: a substance used by the body, such as a glucose-like compound, labelled with a radioactive isotope. The isotope emits positrons as it decays. When a positron meets an electron in tissue, they annihilate and produce two gamma rays travelling in opposite directions.
