A property of an object equal to its mass multiplied by its velocity; it has both a magnitude and a direction.
Revise: Momentum is a property of moving objectsA moving object has momentum. Momentum describes its quantity of motion: it depends on both how much mass the object has and how fast it is moving. A massive object can therefore have the same momentum as a lighter object travelling at a greater velocity.
- Revise: Conservation of momentum
A quantity equal to mass multiplied by velocity; it has both magnitude and direction.
- Revise: Changes in momentum
The product of an object's mass and velocity, measured in kilograms metres per second (kg m/s). It has a direction because velocity has a direction.
