Revise: Elastic and Inelastic DeformationIf it remains longer than before, it has undergone inelastic deformation. An object can stretch a great deal and still deform elastically if it returns to its original shape; conversely, a spring that has been stretched too far may not return completely. The distinction is about recovery, not simply how far the object stretched.
