Revise: Examples of MomentumThis is a perfectly inelastic collision, a special type of inelastic collision. Momentum is conserved, but kinetic energy is not: some of the initial kinetic energy is transferred to thermal energy, sound and deformation. Because the joined mass is greater than the original moving mass, its common speed is lower than the moving trolley’s initial speed.
