Ellipse

Johannes Kepler then used careful observations of planetary positions to show that planetary orbits are ellipses, rather than the perfect circles earlier models had assumed. His model predicted planetary positions more accurately. In 1687 Isaac Newton explained that the Sun’s gravitational pull keeps planets in orbit.
