Revise: Microphones and LoudspeakersAs the coil moves back and forth, the induced potential difference and current change direction. Their pattern varies with the sound, so the microphone has converted pressure variations in a sound wave into variations in current: an electrical signal. This is an application of electromagnetic induction, sometimes called the generator effect.
