A thin part of a loudspeaker or headphones that vibrates and causes the surrounding air to vibrate.

Revise: Solenoids and their ApplicationsThe coil is attached to a lightweight cone or diaphragm. As the changing force moves the coil backwards and forwards, the cone or diaphragm vibrates with it. It alternately pushes nearby air particles together and draws them further apart, producing the pressure variations of a sound wave.
For a loudspeaker or headphones, give the complete chain: changing current → changing magnetic field → force on the coil → vibrating cone or diaphragm → vibrating air → sound wave.
Do not say that electricity is converted directly into sound. The electrical signal first produces mechanical vibrations in the cone or diaphragm.
