Dislocation

Around the joint is the joint capsule, a tough covering made of fibrous tissue. It encloses the joint space, keeping the fluid contained, and supports the joint. This helps hold the bones in their correct positions and reduces the risk of dislocation, when a bone moves out of its normal position at a joint.
