High-intensity physical activity in which energy is released without using oxygen, supporting short bursts of effort.
Used by Edexcel
Specification 1.3.2 · Paper 1
Revise: Energy sourcesThe body needs oxygen to release energy from fats, so fats are a fuel source for aerobic activity, not anaerobic activity. They are particularly useful during lower-intensity, sustained exercise, such as steady, gentle cycling.
When asked about aerobic fuels, name both fats and carbohydrates. For anaerobic activity, name carbohydrates.
