Revise: Translations and ReflectionsFor a reflection, check that corresponding points are equal distances from the stated mirror line. For a translation, check that every point has moved by exactly the same vector. A sketch need not be a point-by-point plot, but its position, shape and important features must be accurate.

The line across which a shape is reflected; it lies halfway between every point and its corresponding image point.
State the mirror line for a reflection: is in the -axis, whereas is in the -axis.

A reflection flips a shape across a mirror line, also called the line of reflection. The starting shape is often called the object and the reflected shape is its image.
When asked to describe the transformation fully, write both reflection and the equation of the mirror line.
Do not count diagonally towards a vertical or horizontal mirror line: measure the shortest, perpendicular distance.
