The changes found by subtracting each term of a sequence from the term immediately after it.
Revise: Quadratic SequencesFor a linear sequence, the first differences are constant. In a quadratic sequence, the first differences change, but their differences—the second differences—are constant.
Write first differences directly beneath the original terms and second differences beneath those. A constant first difference means linear; a constant second difference means quadratic.
When continuing a quadratic sequence, extend the constant second-difference row first, then work upwards to the next first difference and next term.
