The total distance travelled divided by the total time taken, including any stops included in the stated journey time.
For an average speed, use total distance divided by total time. Do not simply take the mean of the speeds for different stages.
For a journey with several stages, calculate average speed using total distance divided by total time; do not simply average the individual speeds.
