Revise: Developments in Patient CareThe Liberal governments of 1906–14 introduced welfare reforms to help people facing sickness, old age or unemployment. Free school meals were introduced in 1906, medical inspections of schoolchildren in 1907, and old-age pensions in 1908. Together, these measures addressed problems that could damage health and helped identify illness among children.
