Revise: IrelandConservatives and imperialist supporters of the Union opposed Home Rule and supported Ulster Unionists. Where Asquith saw limited self-government as compatible with preserving the Union, its opponents regarded it as a threat to that Union.
Do not treat Britain or Ireland as having one shared opinion. Contrast Liberal support for Home Rule with Conservative and Unionist opposition.
