Revise: Changes in SocietyThe 1927 Unemployment Insurance Act extended protection for workers who lost their jobs. Contributions financed a scheme that paid support to insured unemployed workers. This reduced the immediate danger of a family losing all its income, although insurance did not itself create jobs or remove unemployment.
