Shuttle diplomacy

Shuttle diplomacy means a mediator moving between opposing governments, carrying proposals and seeking compromises. Kissinger’s approach aimed to secure limited, practical agreements rather than settle every disputed issue at once. Separating armies could reduce the danger of another war even when the governments were not ready for a full peace treaty.
