A stone monument bearing an inscription in runes, the letters used in early Scandinavian writing.

Around 965, Harald erected the large runestone at Jelling in memory of his parents, Gorm and Thyra. Its inscription also celebrated Harald himself, describing him as the ruler who ‘won for himself all of Denmark and Norway and made the Danes Christian’.
