Rosie the Riveter

The government used Rosie the Riveter to encourage women to enter industrial work. Rosie represented a capable female worker whose labour supported victory. This recruitment campaign challenged the assumption that industrial jobs were exclusively men’s work, although it did not remove resistance to women entering male-dominated workplaces.
