A judgement about a person or group made in advance, often based on stereotypes rather than individual evidence.
Revise: Intolerance and the Fight for Civil RightsPrejudice means judging people through assumptions about their group. Discrimination means acting on such attitudes by treating people unequally. For example, believing that an immigrant was dangerous because of their nationality was prejudice; denying them an opportunity on that basis was discrimination.

Distinguish prejudice (an attitude) from discrimination (unequal treatment). Explain how beliefs led to laws, exclusion or violence.
For Sacco and Vanzetti, explain the evidence of prejudice and doubts about the trial. Do not present their innocence as an established fact.
