Revise: Changes in law enforcementThe Police National Computer, introduced in 1974, made national records more readily available. Officers could obtain information about vehicles and missing persons without depending entirely on separate local files. Computerisation therefore helped overcome a major weakness of policing in 1900: difficulty sharing information between forces.
